By downloading, accessing, or using Owmi ("the App"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree, do not use the App. These Terms apply to registered account users and to guest participants who join a group via a shareable link without creating an account.
Owmi is a bookkeeping and expense-tracking tool for splitting shared costs among groups of people — for trips, shared living arrangements, and events. Owmi calculates who owes whom based on expenses you and your group members enter, and helps track when those amounts have been settled.
Owmi is not a payment processor, money transmitter, or financial institution. Owmi does not move money, hold funds, or process any financial transaction between users. All actual payment between users — whether in cash, by bank transfer, through a third-party payment app, or by any other means — happens entirely outside of Owmi, between the users themselves. Marking an expense as "settled" or a payment as "confirmed" in the App is a record-keeping action only and has no financial or legal effect on any underlying debt between users beyond what they agree to between themselves.
Creating an account requires a valid email address. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials and for all activity under your account.
Owmi allows participants to join a group via a shareable link without creating an account ("Guest Mode"). Guest Mode data is stored locally on your device. If you do not create an account, your guest data may not be recoverable if you lose access to your device, and you cannot access the same group data from a different device.
To deactivate or delete your account, contact us at support@owmi.online. We do not currently offer a self-service in-app deletion option. Once you request deletion, your personal data is permanently removed; your role in shared expense records is anonymized per the Ghost Member process described in our Privacy Policy. Account deletion is unconditional — we do not place restrictions on when or why you may delete your account.
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction) to use Owmi. By using the App, you represent that you meet this requirement.
You are solely responsible for the accuracy of expenses, amounts, and descriptions you enter. Owmi does not verify the accuracy of any user-entered financial information, and disputes between group members about who-owes-what, or about real-world payment, are between those users — Owmi is not a party to and has no liability for resolving such disputes.
You agree not to:
Expense descriptions, group names, and other content you enter into Owmi ("User Content") remain yours. By using the App, you grant us only the limited license necessary to store, process, and display that content back to you and your group members as part of providing the service — we do not claim broad ownership rights over your User Content, and we do not use it for any purpose beyond operating the App.
Owmi offers an optional one-time, non-consumable purchase ("Remove Ads Forever") that removes advertising from the App permanently on your account, across devices, via Apple's restore-purchase mechanism. This purchase is processed entirely through Apple's App Store and StoreKit; Owmi does not handle, store, or have access to your payment information. All billing disputes, refunds, and chargebacks are governed by Apple's App Store terms and policies, not by Owmi directly — refund requests should go to Apple.
If you are a consumer in the European Union or Brazil, you ordinarily have a legal right to cancel a purchase within a set period (commonly 14 days in the EU; a similar "right of regret" period under Brazilian consumer law) without giving a reason.
This right does not apply to the Remove Ads Forever purchase once it has been delivered, because it is digital content supplied immediately upon purchase. By completing the purchase, you acknowledge that delivery begins immediately and that you lose the right of withdrawal/cancellation once the digital content has been fully delivered, consistent with applicable EU and Brazilian consumer protection law governing digital content and digital services. This does not affect any right to a refund you may separately have through Apple's own refund policies, which are independent of this provision.
The free version of Owmi displays advertising served by Google AdMob. By using the free version, you agree to the display of such ads. See our Privacy Policy for what data AdMob collects to serve and measure ads, and how to manage ad personalization through your device settings or Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt.
Owmi is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. We do not warrant that the App will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that balance calculations will be free of bugs. You are responsible for verifying any financial information before relying on it for real-world payment decisions.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Kevin Hsu shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, money, or goodwill, arising from your use of Owmi — including any dispute between users over actual payment of amounts tracked in the App. Owmi's total liability for any claim shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid for in-app purchases in the preceding 12 months, or (b) $20 USD.
We may update Owmi's features and these Terms over time. Continued use after a Terms update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected by an updated "Last updated" date and, where required, additional in-app notice.
You may stop using Owmi and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for users who violate these Terms, including misuse described in Section 4.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Brazil, without regard to conflict-of-law principles, except to the extent mandatory consumer-protection laws of your own country of residence (e.g., EU/EEA users, or users in other countries with non-waivable local consumer protections) apply additional protections that cannot be waived by contract.
Questions, complaints, or disputes about these Terms: support@owmi.online. We aim to respond to all inquiries within 7 days. We encourage you to contact us directly to resolve any issue before pursuing other avenues, as most concerns can be addressed quickly this way.
